How to play Gem Vault Slots

Choose a bet of 10, 20, 50 or 100 coins and tap Spin (or press the Space bar). Tap again while the reels turn to stop them early; that only skips the animation, the result is already set. Every spin plays all 20 fixed paylines, so each line is worth one twentieth of your bet. A line pays when three or more matching symbols land on it starting from the leftmost reel, reel to reel, with no gaps. Each line pays its one win, and wins on different lines add together.

• Vault Key (wild) appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 only and stands in for any gem or card symbol. It does not pay on its own.
• Vault Door (scatter) counts anywhere on the screen. 3, 4 or 5 doors award 6, 8 or 12 free spins. Free spins use the bet that triggered them, every line win during them is doubled, and more doors during free spins add more spins. When two doors have landed, the reels after them slow down and glow; that only happens when the doors are really there.
• Lucky Gem Drop: on every paid spin there is a 1 in 12 chance a bonus gem drops onto the reels, worth 0.5x your bet (60% of drops), 1x (26%), 2x (9%), 4x (4%) or 10x (1%). It is drawn separately from the reels and pays on top of any line win.
• Vault Meter: every paid spin adds one charge. The 30th charge opens the Vault Bonus: pick one of three doors for 2x (40%), 3x (30%), 4x (16%), 6x (10%), 12x (3%) or 30x (1%) your average bet over those 30 spins. Every door draws from the same table, so no door is better than another. The meter is saved in this browser and keeps its charges between visits.
• Autoplay runs 10 or 25 spins, pauses for your Vault Bonus pick, and stops early when free spins trigger or when you can't cover the bet. Turbo only shortens the animations; it doesn't change any odds.
• A Big Win is 12x your bet or more, a Huge Win 25x or more, and an Epic Win 50x or more.

Paytable

Numbers are line-bet multiples for 3, 4 and 5 of a kind. At a 20-coin bet the line bet is 1 coin, so they read as coins; at a 100-coin bet multiply by 5.

Odds, honestly

Each reel stops at a random position on a fixed, weighted strip (31 to 35 stops). Worked out exactly from those strips and the bonus tables, the game returns about 95.6% of coins bet over very long play: about 66.4% from line wins, 8.8% from free spins, 8.3% from Gem Drops and 12.0% from the Vault Bonus. A 2,000,000-spin simulation of the full game landed at 95.4%.

About 37% of spins pay a line win, and about 45% of spins give you something (a line win, a Gem Drop, free spins or the Vault Bonus). Free spins trigger about once every 98 spins and last about 6.5 spins on average including retriggers. Gem Drops come about once every 12 spins, and the Vault Bonus exactly once every 30 paid spins. A Big Win or better comes about 7 times per 1,000 spins, a Huge Win or better about once per 1,000, and an Epic Win about once per 7,000. Short sessions swing well above and below all of this, and past spins never change future ones.
