Block Puzzle

How to play Block Puzzle

You get three pieces at the bottom of the screen. Drag a piece onto the 8x8 board and let go to place it. While you drag, a faded copy shows where it will land.

When a whole row or a whole column is full, it disappears and you score points. After you place all three pieces, you get three new ones. The game ends when none of your pieces fit on the board.

Pieces include single squares, straight lines of 2 to 5, squares, rectangles, corners, L shapes, T shapes and zigzags. You cannot turn a piece by hand, except with the one Rotate power-up (see below).

Scoring and combos

Each square you place is worth 1 point. Clearing lines is worth much more. One line is 10 points, two lines at once are 30, three are 60 and four are 100. Row and column clears from one move count together.

Clear lines on move after move and you build a combo. The second clear in a row pays 1.5 times, the third pays 2 times, up to 5 times. A move that clears nothing ends the combo. Empty the whole board and you get 200 bonus points.

Power-ups

Each game gives you two power-ups, one use each. Rotate: tap it, then tap a piece to turn it a quarter turn. A square will not use it up, because turning it changes nothing. Swap tray: swaps the pieces you have left for new ones.

If nothing fits but a power-up could help, the game does not end. It tells you "No space. Use Rotate or Swap".

Three ways to play

Classic never ends until you run out of room. It saves your best score on this device. Adventure has 20 levels. Each level starts with some stone blocks and gems already on the board, and gives you a goal: reach a score, clear a number of lines, or collect gems. You collect a gem when its row or column clears. Beat a level to unlock the next one. Daily challenge gives everyone the same pieces for the day. You get one finished run per day, so scores are easy to compare.

Tips

Is it fair?

Pieces are picked at random. When the board gets full, big awkward pieces show up less often. The game also checks the board. If any piece can still fit, at least one of your three pieces will fit. There is no revive and no ads to continue. When nothing fits, the game is over and you can start a new one at once.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate pieces?

Once per game, with the Rotate power-up. Tap Rotate, then tap the piece.

Is it free? Do I need to download it?

It is free and runs in your browser on a phone or a computer. Touch, pen and mouse all work.

Where is my progress saved?

Only in this browser: your current board, best score, Adventure levels, stats and settings. Clearing your site data removes them.

Does the daily challenge change?

Yes. New pieces start at midnight your local time. You can finish one run per day.
